I just replied to another post about such a question. I am working on my program at Walden University. I like the flexibility. I also like the KAMs. These are research projects that help you explore the field and give you good practice before you tackle the dissertation.
ODU has a program that I think is for me. It is available thru distance learning at community colleges and also via online delivery. However, the online format is not like other online schools where you get to check at your convenience. At ODU, you have to connect during the live class sessions and participate via web during the regular class session. But I still think the program sounds great: ODU PhD Instructional Design & Technology

I am submitting my applicaiton to the EdD program at Pepperdine in Educational Technology tomorrow! It is great to hear such positive statements! I have heard only wonderful things about the program.
Could you please tell me more about your experience with the online portion of the Blended program? What do you find to be the most challenging feature of about the program? Also, do you have any advice for applicants?

I am in the EdD program at Pepperdine in Educational Technology. The program is amazing. It is primarily face to face (60%) and meets face to face 5 times per year. My cadre is fabulous with folks from all different areas of education (K-12, Higher Ed, Business). I would definitely recommend it.
Sylvia,
I am in the process of applying to the PhD program with ODU. I am really excited and hope to start taking classes this summer as non-degree seeking. I would love to hear more about your experience with the program. :-)

I am thinking about possibly doing the PhD program with USU.
Sterling,
Do you happen to know whether the PhD program can be completed from a distance?
Thanks,
Justin

I checked and it looks like you need to do your first four semesters on campus after which you can move if you need to.
