I've been using Moodle for years. All of my systems are hosted by Moodlerooms. Take a look at our 21st Century Information Fluency Moodle site? http://21cif.mrooms.net

@Anthony
You are welcome. Depending upon your host's server settings, you may have to request an increase in max upload size in order to upload this course. They are good, free, videos, though.
Best wishes,
Jeff

Jeff,
Thank you for the excellent resource! This will be of great benefit. I am currently using a free Moodle hosting solution from http://www.keytoschool.com/ .

I am currently piloting Moodle with a few high school teachers. Where can I find find free instructional videos that I can show in my school? Unfortunately, the firewall blocks YouTube.

Thanks in advance.

We are working on a free tutorial in the hopes of bringing more educators to SL in time for NECC 09 (currently in final beta) sneak peek @ youtube

As soon as we finish we are starting work on a free tutorial for moodle with content provided by Jason Welsh for educators, students, and staff. Stay tuned! We hope to have 3 additional free titles available this year. Seen link above to see why this method of training is different and imagine moodle instead of SL.

When available you can find a link on K-12Kids.com feel free to share with everyone in education. We'd love to have non-english language versions as well if you'd like to share your video tutorials of Moodle let us know, you'll need to make them a creativecommons "cc by" license feel free to watermark them too.

These run in the SofTutor player (free) but can also be run with SofTutor school license and modified by the kids as well. We started a SofTutor ning group yesterday.

I have just created our first Moodle workshop for teachers in our school district. I am looking forward to sharing this method of instruction this summer in our schools. I do teacher training and have used Moodle for a couple of years for local online classes. It really is easy to manage and fun to do! Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.

Thank you Jeffrey. Appreciate your suggestion to schedule chats.
Jeffrey Woodbury Comment by Jeffrey Woodbury on April 16, 2009 at 7:47am
Chat sessions are logged in Moodle. Students probably already know their sessions are being logged in almost any online environment, but reminding them cannot hurt. Teachers and admin users can look at the chat transcripts after the fact. It also may help to schedule chat times so that chat is not constantly open to students 24/7.

Yes, I remember you well. We used Remote Learning last year at a cost of $800.00 for the year. The plan is to host ourselves this year. Do you use the chat feature? I found it quite valuable from my side but as mentioned in this forum, I am concerned about conversation I can not see.

Anyone have suggestions or experience with this?

Do students need to memorize facts in the digital age? Absolutely! But, I believe the question is a bit misleading. To even ask the question is to misinterpret the focus of education. Suppose we step into the middle of the 21st century and humans...
