We're in the process of proposing an ISTE Outstanding Young Educator Award, and would love some feedback from this group:

- What kind of recognition would be valuable to you as a young educator?
- There are so many kinds of educators that ISTE represents, making it difficult to come up with a single set of criteria. What do YOU think should be included in the rubric?
- How do you think this type recognition would impact your career if you were to win such an award?

Please share your thoughts, and also let me know if you'd be interested in participating in a planning/brainstorming group to flesh out this proposal. Thanks!

Here is my feedback...
-There are 2 letters requested, one from the direct supervisor and one from the chief staff rep. My concern is that in some schools the direct supervisor and the chief staff representative may be the same person.
-I am not sure I understand the question, "What would a technology-powered education system model for all learners?"
-Can all of the selection criteria be addressed by the nominee in the packet? For example, one criterion is that the nominee contributes to the profession. Where is that addressed in the information the nominee is asked to provide?

Hi Kate,

Those are great bits of feedback--thank you!

Regarding the question, we want to craft a prompt that provides the opportunity for the nominee to be visionary and forward-looking in his or her response. Can you offer a different suggestion for the question?

Thanks!

Jennifer

I was wondering what are some of the risks for Twitter in terms of having your students use it in the classrooms.  Are their any setting available to make sure they can only access the site you want them to have access to?  Obviously, students will…

Nice work Annette! A great way to reduce the bare minimum worker syndrome is to have individual work relate to a group project portfolio to be presented. This type of interrelated assignment allows for individual creativity with enough pressure to n…
