It looks like there is a wiki set up to develop NETS-S rubrics? http://nets-implementation.iste.wikispaces.net/Rubrics Is there any word from NECC about rubric development?

Alissa, Kudos to your district for incorporating 21st century thinking skills into student assessments and thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Carolyn, Were rubrics created at the sessions during NECC? If not, perhaps sending an announcement to all to find out if we should create a space to collect (and co-create) them would be best. We are very excited to see the move towards techno...

Free ISTE Webinar this week: School 2.0: Technology and the Future of School

ISTE sponsors webinars for educators throughout the school year. The webinar series is called Technology in Practice and features a Web 2.0 tool or innovative technology that would be useful in many school settings. Each of these sessions lasts 60 minutes. The presentation takes about 45 minutes and the remaining 15 minutes provide time for interaction between presenter and audience, as well as some previews for upcoming webinars.

If you haven't experienced an ISTE webinar yet, this week you ha… Continue

Hi Michele,
Thank you for the warm welcome! Now that things are settling down a bit here, I thought I could finally check out ISTE's Ning. I'm a first year teacher (this upcoming school year will be my second year teaching) and I was able to attend NECC in DC a few weeks ago. I had an AMAZING time, learned a few new things, and was able to network with a ton of other educators. What a wonderful resource to have as a new teacher!

Thanks again!

Hi Michelle - Edi (Hulu) says "hi" back. He is the technology specialist and my right-hand man! We have one more day of school and we are all heading out until August.

Hi Michelle -
Thanks for the message. I am in Rumbai at the Caltex American School. Where did you live when you were here? We really enjoy the small school of 45 kids!

Not sure how to send you an email other than writing on your wall (newbie).

In regards to your question about college programs. It was probably my father who asked me what I wanted to do "I want to work at bell labs or sandia labs" then we just kind of sculpted our own list of things to take in college that may benefit a future employeer.

I pitched an idea to the head of the physics department to do laser research, he bought it and I did 4 years of work. I used college to basically build my resume to help me get a job where I wanted to work. A little computer science, sciences, math etc. My degree was Industrial Technology with an emphasis on computer intergrated manufacturing, specializing on computer graphics and physics. Needless to say I went to Illinois State Univ. (relatively average college) but started my job at Bell Labs within 4 days of graduation.

Let the kids decide what they want to do, set goals and achieve them. I was an average student in college, but won engineer of the year and marketing person of the year in two consecutive years at AT&T Computer Systems Division.

Have your kids "just go for it!" There are no limits as to what you can do. I've done everything I've dreamed of by making my own reality. I still want to help the world learn better so that's why I'm here.

I started K20Learning.com last month to build systems kids can use to teach their peers and share with everyone. There needs to be no boundaries on what kids can achieve!

Do students need to memorize facts in the digital age? Absolutely! But, I believe the question is a bit misleading. To even ask the question is to misinterpret the focus of education. Suppose we step into the middle of the 21st century and humans...
